$300,000

That is the amount collected by Perry Township School Corporation from August to October of 2002. Perry Township is a middle sized corporation on the south side of Indianapolis serving approximately 13,000 students.

They implemented the EzPay on-line lunch fee payment application midway through last year. It met with immediate success as the parents loved its convenience. Parents were able to go the the Corporation web site and view their child's lunch fee balance. They could then pay money into their child's account using a credit card. Some parents even paid for an entire year.

This fall, Perry Township introduced the ability to also pay book fees on-line. Approximately 10% of the parents took advantage of this capability. We believe that to be an very significant number considering  the service was new.

Between August and October, 2002 Perry Township has processed approximately 6,000 transactions valued at over $300,000 on-line. Approximately 1,300 of those transactions were book fees and the remainder being lunch fee transactions.

That is 6,000 transactions that required virtually no human intervention. No one handled the money or checks. There were no NSF check charges. None of these children lost the check or cash on the way to school. None of these parents wondered if the payment made it to school. There is a complete record of the transaction. The advantages are huge both for the school corporation and for the parents.
